Dalit woman thrown off train for not paying two rupees bribe

PATNA: A Dalit woman vendor lost her leg after she was allegedly thrown from a running train in a Bihar town by constables of the Government Railway Police (GRP) for refusing to pay them two rupees as a bribe, police said.

Bhuli Devi was admitted to a local hospital after she was thrown from the train near Sitamarhi railway station on Saturday.

A.P. Srivastava, the officer in-charge of the Sitamarhi GRP station, confirmed the incident and said action would be initiated against the guilty constables.

"No police complaint was lodged till Sunday morning," a police source said.

Bhuli Devi was identified as a resident of Madhubani district by railway police officials.
